L’Oreal Infallible Lipstick in Tender Berry Review, Swatches
A few days back when I opened my lipstick drawer, it was kinda surprising to see that all my lipsticks belong to the same colour families. All I had was similar shades but from different brands! And the colours that dominated were MLBBs, nudes, corals and reds. A girl can never have enough pink lipsticks and I want none! Pinks and Mauves are shades I don’t wear…coming from a girl, shocking? But recently I found a pale pink which is my latest crush!

L'Oreal Infallible Lipstick in Tender Berry

L’Oreal Claims: Infallible Le Rouge stays fresh and vibrant looking for up to 10 hours without feeling sticky, tacky or dry. Enriched with Vitamin E for moisture and Ceramide 5 for conditioning, Infallible Le Rouge applies evenly without flaking or fading out.

The new Infallible Le Rouge formula is based on L’Oréal’s Colour Bond Technology that features a flexible network that captures and fixes colour on lips. This is made possible by an association of adhesive polymers that allows for the longevity of the lipcolour, as well as sillicon micro spheres that ensure only the richest lipcolour will be left on a woman’s lips.

L'Oreal Infallible Lipstick

The Colour: Tender Berry is a cool toned lilac mauve with hints of pink. The pigmentation is really good. Below you see one single swipe and see how pigmented it is. It goes opaque in one swipe and you get a blast of pale pink mauve. Being cool toned, I expected it to wash out my nc37 skin but it brightens it up. I was always into corals and nudes. Mauve was a colour I could never make myself to wear but this one has started a love affair I guess! As a rule people with warm tones should wear warm lipstick shades but cool toned lipsticks if carried well can surprise you, in a good way ofcourse.

Quality, Texture and Longevity: The range has 30 shades with a mix of different finishes. Some are matte, others lustre and this one creamy matte. With just one swipe you get full pigmentation and the creaminess to match it. Despite being a long lasting formula, it is non drying. But if you have dry flaky lips I sugest you wear a thin coat of lip balm under it. I wore it in the day and the color was still intact when I got home…so I can safely say it stays on for around 7-8 hours on me. Also, it glides on easily without flaking up and never settles into the fine lines of lips. This is one of the best long staying lip colours I’ve tried in a long time. Also, the bullet has this thin diameter which makes it very easy to apply the lipstick straight from the tube, even beginners can get it right the first time without messing up.

The lipstick case is sturdy and closes with a ‘clicckkkk’ which relieves you of it messing up in your bag but it is bulky. Also, if you have a few more of these then it gets difficult to distinguish them in your vanity without looking at the labels. At this price, I would expect a little more good-to-look-at packaging.

So is it for you? Yes if you are looking for a mauve that’s not too plum and has enough amounts of cool pink in it to brighten up your complexion and look neat. If you are afraid of mauves, then this can be a safe option. The formula is top notch and stays on for 7-8 hours with meals in between and doesn’t flakes and dries your lips. It is one of those good quality long lasting lip colors available in the market.

Expressions on my mom’s face when I first opened this tube: Priceless
Hahaha my mom seldom comes out of her nudes. Okay I love nudes too but not everytime. I try to keep my other lip colours happy too. But mom..she is always stuck with Maybelline My Mahogany and Nyx Frappucino, which by the way look very pretty on her. I sometimes wonder how the colours magically change when she wears them. Okay so you got the story, my mom is scared of reds. Like literally scared. And well I admit, after opening the tube I got scared too. Like really scared. How on earth was I supposed to wear such a bright in-your-face tomato red? So this lipstick was thrown away in a corner never to see sunshine again. Not quite. I took it out a month later and…

Queen Claims: Vibrant colors for sensitive lips.

sheer red lipstick swatch

The Colour: Okay how do I start explaining the colour. Its something you get when you mix 1tbsp of red with 1 tspn full of coral and 1/2 tspn pink. (Professor Utonium where are you? errr..no chemical X this time please). Its not the bright tomatoish red you see in the tube but a pretty sheer red with hints of coral and pink. This is a red we don’t get to see much, atleast I’ve never seen a red like this ever. It is sheer so you need a couple of swipes for the colour to come up.

The texture is creamy and moisturising. More than creamy the texture is wet and juicy. Think Maybelline Watershines but with better pigmentation and lasting power. So you get those juicy wet sheer red lips with a couple of swipes. You don’t need a lip balm with this one since the creaminess will take care of the dry lips. Another thing I like about it is the staying power. It is a long staying lipstick despite its wet and creamy nature. It stays on for a good 7-8 hrs when worn at full intensity. And even then it fades behind a light tint. I like to wear it as a lip tint with my fingers and it stays like that for some 4hrs with eating and drinking.

But I don’t like how it settles into my lip lines. And another thing I noticed is that it bleeds. So I make it a point to wear a lip liner with this. Another issue is the packaging. I’m not really fussy about packaging and things but the shape of the tube makes it inconvenient to apply it specially in the inner corners (The same issue is with Deborah Milano Atomic Red lipsticks also).

Price: £10.50 (Rs.830)

So is it for you? Get it for the colour! Its a sheer red coral colour with hints of pink. The texture is wet and juicy and moisturising. Also the lasting power is somewhere where it performs really well. But it settles into my lip lines and bleeds after sometime which I don’t like. The tube has this straight tip which makes it a little inconvenient to apply directly. So you need to think about these issues before going for it.

While the IIFA Award night is scheduled for tonight, I thought of doing a review kind of thing of the various premieres, press conferences, fashion shows, etc that happened over the whole week in Singapore. That’s where the whole of the Bollywood is right now btw leaving Mumbai viraani and sunsaan. I love doing red carpet posts and wanted to put up something different anyway after the whole Cannes overload last month!

Nargis Fakhri in Anaiika saree: Okay this has to be my favourite look of the event. The armour inspired blouse, electric blue saree, high pony with a pouf, pouty lips, minimal jewelry…things I LOVE. Don’t miss the lapel on the shoulder. If I ever get to walk a red carpet (the chances are very slim btw!) I can see myself doing something like this.

Bipasha chose a light blue off shoulder dress while visiting a zoo during the day. The thin cord at the waist and multi-coloured bangles complete the look. Its good when you start..but the moment you start going down and reach the feet..ugh!

Kalki Koechlin and Abhay Deol

Kalki Koechlin: I don’t expect much from Kalki ever. FACT. And most of the times she turns up too oompa loompaish for my taste. BUT the white embroidered suit she wore for the premiere of Shanghai (the movie is pathetic btw) got her some points. I’m infact in a search for a nice white/cream salwaar kameez..so no surprises that I stopped and took notice.

Kalki Koechlin flaunted this Chanel gown. The dress has this Hawaii feel to it, don’t you think? The blue eye makeup takes this Hawaii feel to a whole new level. I love the back though. And the messy hair braid!
