Hey you guys! So i’ve been on a bit of a lipstick binge, and have been trying out a lot of new, bolder colours to break my nasty habit of sporting only subtle , peachy-pink-nudes. In lieu of that, I will review and swatch the shade number 14 Adorable Matt , from the essence longlasting range and not to give out any spoilers, but it might just be my favorite drugstore lipstick of all time! On another note regarding essence, they don’t test on animals, which with me being puppy-positive , is a huge plus!

Essence Claims: longlasting love… you simply have to fall in love with the longlasting lipsticks by essence. the lipsticks provide your lips with intensive color for several hours without drying them out. you’re sure to find whatever you’re looking for – from bright pink to intensive red and chilled-out berry to subtle nude shades. the essence logo on the texture and the matt, black packaging with a ring of color to match the actual color of the lipstick are true eye-catchers!

My Review of Essence Lipstick:

Price: The lipstick retails at Rs.299  for the standard 4.5 grams of product, which is downright afforable. It makes my little gujju heart (and wallet) happy!

Packaging: The packaging for essence longlasting lipstick range is almost the same as the faces matte range . The rim and the shade-indicator at the bottom let you differentiate between the shades, which is a plus since the tube is entirely opaque and black and as for the bullet itself , it’s stamped with the essence logo .  All in all, sturdy, simple and functional.

Fragrance: The fragrance for this lipstick range probably is my favorite scent that i’ve ever come across in a lipstick (sorry MAC!) . It legitimately smells like raspberries!

Texture and Consistency : The one way i would sum up the texture is of Adorable Matt is a “True matte” . It’s not a bastardized velvet matte that settles into fine lines, nor is the the terribly drying drugstore matte that tugs when you try to put it in , it’s the old-school creamy matte finish .

Pigmentation : The undertones for this shade 14 Adorable Matt aren’t stark blue , which means they won’t clash with yellow-undertoned Indian skin ,and since  they’re on the warmer end of the spectrum, it doesn’t have a whole lot of the whitening-factor for your teeth.  The colour is a deep true raspberry , with a hint of red. With one swipe, the pigmentation shows up VERY intense, and with two to three swipes, it covers up any discolouration on the lips an shows up opaque

Longevity : unfortunately, even though it is a matte, the essence longlasting lipstick does transfer but only the one time you blot it after which, thankfully , it won’t rub off on collars, cups or cute guys.  It lasts over 4 hours, and the rose tint has a much longer wear time.

How i like to wear Essence Longlasting Lipstick 14 Adorable Matt:

There are some days i like to turn on the sass, when i’ll just wear this shade as it is. But here’s how i like to make it a lot more subtle. Blotting on the colour and topping it with a petroleum based balm or a clear gloss , makes it a lot more wearable than the opaque, show-stopping, raspberry shade .

Verdict? There is no way i will not scream at the top of my lungs for anyone that can get it, to get it.  Usually, they’re available on flipkart or amazon once in a while, so if you can get your paws on it, rush. The texture, the finish, the price, the pigmentation, is all sheer perfection.
