Wella Kolestint hair Colour Creme Review – (Burgundy)

I have the hair which my cosmetologist sister calls “Virgin hair”! That is the hair which has never been chemically treated, styled, heated, etc. I’m 20 and I don’t want to be a virgin! So, when Wella contacted me for a review I was determined to break my virginity and become a part of that elite community. So, I choose Burgundy and Black. The hair color arrived a few days back:

The same sister along with some friends came home yesterday and when I told her I’m gonna color my hair, her first reaction was “Noooo! I love your hair. Please don’t”
I said “But you said I’ve virgin hair..”
“That was a compliment silly”

I was confused:

  1. I have no grey hair to cover.
  2. I feel my natural color (black with dark/sometimes light brown streaks..weird) suits me the best.

So, finally after a long debate I succumbed and made my mom the model for the day. She has reddish-orangish-brown hair due to all the hair color and henna usage. So we were obviously very curious how the color would come out on her. Here it goes:

Contents of the Kit :
1 Sachet of pre-colouration Treatment (Pre-colour hair product)
1 tube of colour Creme
1 bottle of crème Developer
1 tube of new After- colour Intense Shine Treatment (Conditioner)
1 pair of gloves
1 instruction leaflet

The color result table:

Caution : This Product contains ingredients which may cause skin irritation in certain cases and so a preliminary test according to the accompanying Direction should first be made. This product should not be used for dying the eye-lashes or eye brows; as such a use may cause Blindness.

Step 1: Apply the pre- coloring treatment to dry hair. Do not rinse off.

Step 2: Put on your gloves and mix the entire contents of creme tube in the developer. You can use the bottle provided. I prefer a bowl with a brush.

Step 3: Apply the mixture on your hair and leave it on for 40mins. I made my mom sit with it for 1 hour.

Step 4: Lather by gently massaging with warm water and rinse off.
Step 5: Apply the conditioner for 2-3 mins and rinse off.

Here is the mixture. I used a bowl and a brush rather than the applicator bottle provided.

This isn’t burgundy, is it? It made her hair a few shades darker and the orange streaks less visible. She is fine with the result but I’m not. I expected much more from it. May be its the henna which is why the hair color didn’t show up properly. I don’t know. It did make her dry frizzy hair shiny, soft and smooth to touch and look. So that means the post-washing conditioner is real good. But its about the hair color and not the conditioner! It score points for it didn’t lead to any allergic reactions and itching. It didn’t smell weird unlike some other hair colors which stink. Also, it didn’t lead to any hair fall. I will update you about some other properties that how long the color lasts, etc. after a couple of weeks.

Note- You might need two packs if you have longer and thicker hair than my mom, for her one pack was enough.

Recommendation– Go for it if you have lighter hair or want to cover the greys because it scores on that part. But it would not transform your hair color to the one mentioned on the pack if you have dark hair. Or if you have henna- treated hair, it might not work too. If nothing works, be assured it would provided some shine and the conditioner would do its job of conditioning and making the hair soft and smooth very well. The pre- coloring treatment is supposed to protect your hair and help the color glide on more smoothly. It doesn’t leads to any allergies but then it might act different on different skin types. About the hair fall and lasting power, I will update you shortly.
